QEII returns to NZ Short Course Champs for the first time in 4 years

Amazing effort from our five swimmers racing at the 2026 New Zealand Short Course Championships at Parakiore in Christchurch during the week. 🎉✨️

Racing against the best in New Zealand is always a tough test and our team did us proud with their attitude, commitment and determination inside and outside of the pool.

It was a special moment to have Chloe and Scarlett make their first appearance at a National Meet, and were guided by the wise heads of Max and Chris who provided their support and knowledge to the age-groupers over the week.

Congratulations to all three of our age group swimmers for finishing inside the top-ten of their age group - Ben (5th in 1500m Freestyle), Chloe (7th in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, and Scarlett (9th in the 200m Backstroke). What an awesome achievement, while all made the top 50 at least once!⭐️

Huge shout out to Chris on his return to the club taking home two overall open Gold medals while also setting two new Swimming Canterbury West Coast Short Course Open Records in both the 50m and 100m Butterfly. 👏🥇🥇

The week was wrapped up with a stellar performance in the relay with Chris going under his 100m Butterfly time again leading us out, and Max and Scarlett recording times well under their PBs! Big thanks to MB for helping us out!

Lots to celebrate, lots to reflect on, but super excited for the future! 📈 💛🖤
